Oct 4, 2023. Guest Speaker: Kristie Virgoe: Director of Stewardship and Conservation Lands at Kawartha Conservation.

Kristie Virgoe, a certified Forest Therapy Guide with Kawartha Conservation, presented to the Probus group on October 4, 2023. Kristie shared her passion and knowledge about the emotional and physiological benefits of walking in the forest. Spending time with nature in a quiet and intentional way has been linked to improving our mood, reducing stress and improving cognitive function. It generally “slows us down” and fills us with hope in an often chaotic world with many distractions.

Forest Therapy is also known as Forest Bathing and is a personal experience done alone, but within a small group of up to 25 people. These mindful moments help us be in the present and help us to connect to nature through our senses.

You can join Kristie Virgoe on a two and a half hour mindful exploration in nature at Ken Reid Conservation Area.

For those interested in forest therapy, the following link will connect you to the Kawartha Conservation website and Calendar. You can subscribe to the Calendar to be advised of the various events.
