Kingston Penitentiary Tour and Lunch

Join us on this 1.5-hour tour of Kingston Penitentiary and gain a fascinating glimpse into Canada’s most notorious maximum-security prison, which operated from 1835 to 2013. We’ll be guided through cell blocks, workshops, and solitary confinement cells which will shed a light on the daily lives of inmates and the evolution of prison conditions and policies over the years.

Experienced tour guides—often former correctional officers—share intriguing stories and historical insights about the facility’s past, famous inmates, and escape attempts. We’ll learn about the prison’s notorious figures, like Paul Bernardo, and significant events, such as the 1971 prison riot.

Before heading back to Peterborough, we will stop for lunch in Kingston at the One Eyed Jack Restaurant.
