Peterborough and District Probus Club

Welcome to the Peterborough and District Probus Club

Throughout the year our members participate in a wide variety of events. At our meetings, members have the opportunity to hear from a member of the community who brings a wealth of information on community issues, events and projects to the Club, and who is available to answer any questions the members may have.

Of course, one of the best parts of the meeting is the social interaction when everyone arrives and during our morning coffee breaks. Many new friendships have been made through participation in Probus.

At the September 2019 Annual General Meeting Probus members elected Marty Lamoureux, pictured at right, as the current President of the Club. Check our About Us page for a list of our other 2019 / 2020 Club Officers.

Visit our photo gallery to see photos of our most recent "Lunch Bunch" gathering and our other events including photos from our Bocce Ball get together at King Edward Park, Peterborough, every Wednesday this summer organized by Probus Member Bob Gardner and from our trip to Westben in Campbellford to see Abba Mia followed by dinner at Chubby's Restaurant.

See our events page for the list of speakers at our meeetings and scheduled "Lunch Bunch" dates and locations for the coming year. You can also see photos and information on our various speakers. This link takes you directly to information on the most recent speaker.

Please note that all Probus meetings and events have been cancelled due to the Covid 19 pandemic. We will let you know when things are back up and running via email, our newsletters, and this website.

The updated Probus Consolidated Bylaws were approved by Probus Members at the Annual Meeting held September 5, 2018. Please also read a memo regarding Probus Insurance.

Peterborough Probus Constitution which was updated and approved as of September 2014.

Probus is a world-wide organization, an offshoot from Rotary, with a large group of Clubs in Canada. The name Probus is an acronym for Pro(fessional) and Bus(iness) and has people from all walks of life as members. It has become so popular that along with the Peterborough Club there are several Clubs throughout the Northumberland County area, as well as a Club in Lakefield and District, the Lindsay Womens Club, and the Lindsay Mens club .

Probus Clubs worldwide are not service organizations and are non-sectarian and non-political, although members are largely active volunteers in many community organizations. Clubs are formed to provide social events and schedule speakers to keep members up to date with community issues and happenings. Many members have formed smaller interest groups for hobbies such as sports, entertainment, playing bridge, fishing, travel, computers, etc.
